I have never seen a salt cellar before other than in photographs and they played a role in the homes of the SS and during the SS Wedding ritual and upon being married the bride would be gifted salt as a symbol of a gift of the earth along with a bread plate and bread.

Typical motto and a one looker really and wish I had the matching plate but the same motto can be found on those as well. Nice piece of N.S history.
