Third Reich Minor in Bronze- Prof. Seger # 1867
Bronze Third Reich era sculpture of a standing, heroic, bare-chested German miner. This heavy bronze figure was sculpted by Professor Ernst Seger (1868-1939) Seger was a very talented sculptor and would likely have played a much more important role in the creation of Third Reich monumental sculpture, but he died just one month before the war started. The figure dates from the 1930's, and has a distinctly militaristic appearance, which was not unintentional. Even the miner's helmet has been given the appearance of a stahlelm. This heavy bronze measures about 19" tall overall, and is signed Prof. Seger, and foundry stamped Bildgiesserei Kraas Berlin S42. Excellent condition, with not even a rub to the original dark brown patina.
