Teutonic Knight in Bronze # 789
The Teutonic Knights and the Teutonic Order is another facet of
history that Himmler and his SS sought to resurrect within the Third
Reich. Founded in the twelfth century this group would be a model for
Himmler's Camelot, and would be centered at Wewelsberg Castle. Like the
Knights of the Round Table, the events and details of Wewelsberg and
this group will require its own section.
This bronze piece is
one of several different models crafted during the Third Reich and
depicts a Knight with sword and shield embellished with the swastika and
the SS runes. One look at the piece and it leaves no doubt of its
history and most likely was gifted to a ranking SS officer.
