SS Fencing Champonship Award Nov. 12-14th 1936 # 506

In an undated article by Hinrich W. Schild. Mr. Schild makes reference to a fencing award for a competition in Berlin that took place on Novermber 12th through the 14th, 1936. And to take place in "Haus des deutschen sports".

The event was organized on the command of the Reichsfuhrer SS by the sport union of the SS. The list of the event shows 48 winners. A notable recipient in two categories was none other than Gruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich who took two awards and achieved a 5th place with a sword, and a 3rd place with a sabre. The future 2nd in command of the SS performed well, and was an avid fencer.

It would also appear that all winners would have recieved an award giving a total of 48. Two of which went to Heydrich. I have seen 3 of these medals and one recently appeared in an original Allach box. This would be no doubt one of the earliest Allach presentations.

The event was covered and reported of in Fm-Zeitschrift of December 1936. It lists all recipients. The Allach model "Der Fechter" would have most likely followed the next year in 1937.
