Scarce (circa 1930) Art Deco bronze of a draped, seated nude young woman by noted German artist Richard Klein. The bronze measures 8 3/4" tall overall, the bronze itself is 6 3/4". It has a glossy brown-black patina with gold highlight to the hair and drape. The variegated grey-green and white marble base is original to the piece and has not damage or chips. Professor Klein was a regular contributor to the annual Haus der Deutschen Kunst exhibitions in Munich, held from 1937-1944. In fact, It was Klein who designed the eagle, torch and Athena head logo that appeared on the china and cutlery used in the tea room of the Haus der Deutschen Kunst, as well as on the covers of the HDK exhibition catalogs, and the lavish monthly Kunst im deutschen Reich magazines. Klein's bronze works are scarce and this model has not ever come up for sale.
