Model #42 SS Fahnentrager/SS Standard Bearer (2nd Variant) Allach # 422
Although many consider the SS Reiter or Rider to be the Holy Grail of
Allach, this piece is without a doubt just as rare and when we talk
about color, the Standard Bearer stands alone in rarity. There are two
separate versions of this piece, the first version bears a standard
model 1933 SS dagger with a standard finial or pole top.
The second and more rare variant is the model that bears a model 1936 chained SS dagger and a finial bearing a wreathed swastika. (Pictured) These are seldom encountered, and when they are damage is almost assured. A colored example would be extremely rare as survival rate for these pieces is pretty slim.
Note: Although production is marked for 1936, archival documentation shows a presentation of the SS Fahnentrager to Dr. Heinrich Lammers on his birthday 5/27/1935. This was a direct presentation from Heinrich Himmler.

It is difficult to say when these were last manufactured but the war no doubt took a toll on production that appears around 1942/43 possibly earlier. These pieces required the utmost skill and were limited to presentation only.
