Luftwaffe Sword Cased Miniature ( Alcoso ) # 1305
Large salesman
sample Luftwaffe sword with personalized crest on the upper scabbard
fitting. Sword measure approx 10 inches outside scabbard and bears the
hallmark for Alcoso. Fitting have taken on a nice patina and the
swastika's retain their golden finish make this piece a little looker.
The leather grip is perfect and the grip wire is tight as can be,
standard plated blade would rate at mint with no runner marks and no
real sign of any surface issues other than one small gray area to
reverese and is complete with the blue buffer. Scabbard is mint and
covered in matching blue leather that I would rate mint other than a few
minute signs of handling. Scabbard fittings have taken on some patina
and some light wear and retains both suspension rings. Th e piece has an
engraved crest to the upper scabbard fitting that I do not recognize
and looks to be crossed hammers and the letter D M. The storage case is a
black leatherette with a deep maroon interior and beige satin inner top
and it is in beautiful condition with just limited signs of age.
Someone took a Luftwaffe cap eagle and applied it to the top which may
put off a purist but its actually nicely done and appears to be mounted
under each wing and may come off if an owner wishes, I tend to just
leave things be. A very nice piece that should in no way disappoint.
