Large Desk Eagle # 2005
Large, hand carved stone eagle by Anton Büschelberger (1869 Eger -
1934 Dresden). This solid stone eagle measures 19" tall and 17 wide.
Weight is about 45 lbs. It has piercing glass eyes and is carved with
incredible detail from one piece of alabaster and then colored by hand.
The piece is signed Anton Büschelberger fec. (fecit is the Latin word
meaning "I made") There is an inset gilt brass medallion in the bottom
which reads: Original Hofkunstanstalt Kochendoerfer Medaille f. Kunst
Muenchen 1851. There are some superficial rubs and scratches to the
surface, but no chips or cracks. One impressive adler!!
