Allach Porcelain #33 Blackbird/Amsel ( Adolf Rohring )
Birds have always been in high demand and tend to be more difficult to find without damage or repair. This one here, which is the first I have seen in a long time is a no excuse piece that is mint. It is a larger example when compared to other models and I believe the 2nd model done by Rohring for PMA. The piece measures approx. 10 inches tall and features the blackbird perched on a small batch of strawberries and leaves. Most of the birds fall in early production with this model being #33. They are addictive and there tend to be more to them which keeps demand high with some of the larger groups and early groups commanding substantial premiums and later groups made even larger and more elaborate. Himmler was a well known bird fan and is known to have gifted many pieces inclusive of bird groups and I'm guessing that survivors probably remain in Germany and Europe as they are non political in face value, today they are prized.
