Non Portable Commemorative Adolf Hitler Birth Medal To Alois Hitler, Klara Pölzl # 3386
This is a commemorative non-portable medal for the birth of Adolf Hitler and in thanks to the parents of Adolf Hitler. It is approx. 3 inches and is in its original box measuring approx. 4 inches and cast in bronze in 1937. One side reads "You gave us the leader" and features the crest of Branau and bears the dedication to Alois Hitler and Klara Klara Pölz, his parents with their respective dates of birth. The obverse features the name of Adolf Hitler and his birthday and features a mother over the cradle set against the background of a Reichsadler and swastika. The box is a beautiful form fitted early box and I am guessing this was done on a local level in that area prior to the annexation of Austria and it dates to 1937.
Adolf Hitler's birthplace located in Braunau is featured in an added postcard and I can't say I have seen anything quite like this before and its an odd piece. Adolf Hitler's early life is not terribly well documented and it tends to be a bit spotty, his relationship with his mother and his father are fairly well documented but pieces depicting his mother are just about non existent. The house where Hitler lived for a very short period was actually a rented apartment and was standing untouched at least until 2016 while the state decided whether or not to destroy it and had been paying the owner rent to keep it from being used.
