Allach Porcelain- 1939 Boxed Summer Solstice Award Medal # 3339
Rare summer solstice sports award medal for games held in Berlin from 6/15- 6/18 1939. Black on terra cotta award measuring 3 1/4 inches in diameter depicts an SS Adler to the rear and to the front depicts the German sun wheel and the inscription "The Winner in Summer Sun Turning Matches 1939 SS. This example was awarded to winning teams during events during the Summer Solstice and is a desirable piece for advanced Allach collectors.
In general these are not common awards but boxed examples are even less common. This particular example retains not only the interior insert but also the silk pull ribbon as well as an undamaged and intact paper hinge to the rear lid and is quite frankly about the best that can be had in terms of condition with Allach medals. The medal itself is stone mint and bears the runic SS to the rim for the firm of Allach. These are the pieces that rarely surface in the market in their complete form and make for a unique opportunity to own the best.
