Price: Upon Request
Rare original bronze owl by Theodore Karner and designed in the prewar years. Standing 9 inches tall overall the owl is one of the more handsome examples I have encountered and this should be no surprise being a Karner piece.
This example is solid bronze and
is perched on its original wooden base and as is typical with Karner pieces
it bears just the right amount of detail. Karner pieces come available from time to time in the marketplace yet original bronze examples are something I rarely see and only a couple examples in the last 20 years that I recall. His work is world renowned and is really second to none in animal figures as well as figures. His work is placed in every major european firms catalogs in the prewar, wartime, and the postwar years including Rosenthal, Nymphenburg, and PMA where his designs were maintained the bulk of the catalog during the 2nd world war.
Karner pieces are highly collectible and sought after and can be found in paint, porcelain, and bronze. This piece is in my opinion one of the nicest examples and comes outside of the normally encountered and more prevalent porcelain making it just that more special.
