DJ Trommler- Deutsches Jungvolk Drummer # 1944
Glazed, white earthenware figure of a DJ (Deutsche Jugend) trommler. This
expressive work was created between 1933 and 1940 by the Max Roesler porcelain
Manufactory in Rodach in Bavaria. It measures approximately 12 1/2" tall and
has very nice details. The flames around the drum, the HJ sheath knife, and the
knot of his kerchief are nicely articulated. The underside of the base bears
the underglaze green maker mark of a rose in a shield, as well as the impressed
model number 0992. Excellent condition with a little spot of loss to the glaze
on the base, which may be a manufacturing flaw rather than damage. (see photos)
A very scarce and desirable Third Reich period piece.
