Bronze Berliner Bear Presentation- General Fritz Bayerlein # 3062
Presentation Berliner bear to Fritz Bayerlein and most likely gifted in late 1943 with his departure from the 3rd Panzer division and on his way to take control of Panzer Lehr in France. Statue appears to be manufactured of a patinated brass and may well be rifle brass. The bear is the symbol of both Berlin and the 3rd Panzer division and this one measures approx. 7 inches on its own and 11 high inches overall and has a dark patina. Base is a variegated black/brown marble and to the piece with all the original hardware and the only add is the base cloth.
Fritz Bayerlein was the recipient of the Knights Cross and the Oakleaves and Swords and his history is well documented. A nice piece and of good size.
