German Maiden- Fritz Klimsch ( Rosenthal ) # 1783
Large German kneeling maiden figure by Fritz Klimsch and
manufactured by the firm of Rosenthal. Piece measures in at 14 inches
high and about 7 inches wide and is a semi bisque finish. Klimsch was of
course a premier artist for the period and this example will date in a
range from 44-46 I am thinking. Example is mint with no damage and a
very nice piece that I have always admired but never owned.
As
a kicker and included is a birthday card thank you from Fritz Klimsch
in 1955 on his 85th birthday and 5 years from his death at age 90 in
1960. The card which I have had a couple years now was tucked inside a
Munich Haus der Kunst catalog and fell out while I was scanning the
group, a pleasant surprise and a nice accent piece.
Translation is as follows loosely:
What Better are the artists than if he feels like his work is on the people. I have to my 85th Birthday so much evidence of friendship and devotion, letters, telegrams, flowers and gifts, which I would like to thank the hand to press each one wants to.
