Each year the SS Man and his family would receive a new candle to place within the Julleuchter for the Winter Solstice as the end of the year came to a close. The accompanying document reflected on the previous years events in the context that they had transpired, and extended wishes for the New Year. These candles and their documents in their original form are extremely rare and are seldom found in the market place. Shown here are two variant candles with original boxes and the Himmler letter which was wrapped with the candle. The following is the translation for year end 1942.

I am sending you the Juel-candle along with my best wishes for the year 1943.

May the new year bring you all luck and be prosperous.

The last year's winter put our people, our soldiers and especially our Waffen-SS men as well to the test.

We owe it alone to Adolf Hitler's guidance that we passed this test.

The year 1943 will be tough and demand a lot from us as well.
