Meissen Wall Plaque Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler # 1149
Meissen is obviously a premier porcelain manufacturer and has been
since the early 1700's. Most famous for their early figures and their
laced porcelain the company operates on a high level and high quality.
During
the Reich most Meissen pieces were small tokens and regimental plates,
while there were a few figures they are not often encountered.
This plaque I have never seen before listing this and the quality is top notch and it is a rare example.
The
piece is bisque porcelain and measures 8 5/8 x 5 5/8 x 5/8 and is
triple marked and initialed by the artist who I have to look up. It is
very early and dated to 1933-34 and depicts Adolf Hitler in raised
relief with a large Adler overhead with outstretched wings. The bottom
has the name Adolf Hitler and at this time he would have been
Chancellor.
The rear bears both the stamped blue marking and the impressed marking of the crossed swords, model numbers and then the party eagle and reads " Winterhilfswerk Des Deutschen Volkes 1933-34.
An early high quality slab of Meissen bisque porcelain designed for the wall and while I tend to shy away from desk medals and wall plaques unless they are exceptional, this one is and I actually reached for it and it should be framed as its just that nice.
Great piece..
