On the afternoon of the 19th
of September Hitler entered Danzig as the victorious commander in chief
who had defeated Poland and proceeded to the Artushof at the Long
Market, to give his first speech subsequent to the Reichstag speech of
the 1st of September. There he was received by Gauleiter Forster and the
Danzig party leaders, the new military commander for Danzig and West
Prussia, General der Artillerie Heitz, Keitel, Ribbentrop, Lammers,
Himmler, Dr. Dietrich, Bormann and his adjutants.
