Model #191 Unrecorded Peasant Woman ( Romanian Garb) # 672
According to period documentation, Adolf Rohring was commissioned to
design 5 Romanian "Peasant" style figures and 8-10 "Freiheitshelden" or
heroic figures who fought in Romanian's history for national
independence. These would be official presents for statesmen of
Antonescu´s Romania.
Models #191 and #192 are examples of
these Romanian figures and are now the highest recorded model #'s known
for the Allach Porcelain concern. These figures appeared on an auction
site and were reportedly bought back with a veteran along with a 3rd
example of extreme rarity.
Having been liberated from Dachau, as
the story goes, would explain the high model numbers as it would have
put them in the factory at the end of the war.
