Large 18" Heroic Nude In Bronze-Karl Möbius ( 1876 - 1953 ) # 3437
This is a really nice piece and stands 18" tall and is naturally a bronze manufacture with a beautiful dark patina and stands on its original marble base. The artist Karl Möbius was born May 20, 1876 in Borna near Leipzig, and died February 27, 1953 in Berlin. Möbius studied at the Dresden School of Applied Arts and at the Berlin Art Academy and was known for a variety of works related to German colonial history and is therefore considered an outstanding representative of colonial sculpture. These pieces generally predate the war and run in the immediate post WWI period, in this case its undated and I do not know when it was modeled but have a similar figure by Pagels that dates to 1919.
This is a big piece and heavy so contact me for shipping.
