Der Fuhrer Busts # 819
During the Third Reich propaganda symbols and pieces were to be found in just about every building or home. The Fuhrer busts that are seen in the market today were either sold on a commercial basis, or commissioned. It is interesting to note photo's such as this as they give a glimpse into the era that we would not commonly associate with window sales. But these pieces were in fact standard inventory items for many outlets.
While I mainly try and acquire pieces done by noted
artists and larger size examples manufactured of bronze. These can be
found in many sizes and made of many materials, as well as small
variations that were derived from the larger styles of the same noted
artists.
When shopping these pieces, you will find the very
distinct differences between each artists style and that particular
artists view of the subject. While Adolf Hitler was the most commonly
found bust, personalities such as Hermann Goering, Horst Wessel, Richard
Wagner, Von Ribbentrop, and a host of others were commisioned. These
are not as commonly encountered and when you do find one of them, most
often than not, the artist will be of the highest stature within the art
community of the time.
