8. Fake Third Reich Porcelain- Meissen, Allach, Bohemia, and More..... # 2100
I knew there would be the day I would have to do this because market
knowledge lags the actual market from anywhere between a day, to 5
years, or as those with Champagne SS helmets found out 40 years. All
those C.O.A's and laser guns, books and the guy has not issued one
refund. Why? because its a scam designed to take your money. Here,
things are simple.... I do not write C.O.A's, I do not charge for
opinions, and basically sit here and watch market for new fakes and pin
them down and expose them before they get accepted or cleared by some
forum know it all.
No one is ever going to reproduce an Allach figure, a plate is difficult enough and other than some post war applications of paint, Allach is pretty safe. Should you go out and grab a auction paddle and bid without consulting someone? sure, if your an idiot. But Allach aside and with prices rising, the number of fantasy pieces is increasing. Fakes, amended maker marks, paint, transfers, etc. are all coming into play on non-Allach porcelain such as Meissen, KPM, Rosenthal, ans well as various cottage manufacturers are now showing up increasingly in the market and being sold as original.
These starter pieces are being sold cheap but it wont take long till they pop up as real because the dealers do not always know, sellers lie to dealers, dealers lie to buyers, and auctioneers don't give a hoot about anything but commission regardless of how clean they run. Add the fact that most guys do not collect these things as core collectibles and you have a lack of knowledge in the base, a lack of knowledge on forums in many cases, and just an overall lack of knowledge period. Not to say that some guys wont catch some of these as they come, but a lot of guys wont.
I am just going to load this section up as this has been an ongoing problem and more so the last couple years, I can only assume it will get worse. There are of course reasons each of these are bad and anyone I list for that matter, but because a single comment on a forum can change what some guy in Estonia does with fake porcelain I am not even going to say why their bad. I can do that because I do not write C.O.A's to justify my existence, I do not need flunky's who actually believe a ray gun can authenticate an item by itself, and I don't just load a reference book up with a flood of bogus pieces in order to capitalize on guys who do not do their homework... So? you decide what your education is going to cost, and you either pay attention or your don't.
There are actually a lot more pieces than this, some more obvious than others and most come in via e-mail for opinions. Now they will be pulled and placed here regardless of seller or whatever. Just keep in mind that fakers are using period porcelain and there is period porcelain in here but adorned in the post war either to deceive or for commemorative or veteran use. Lets face it, its to deceive for the most part.
