4. Introduction to Allach 1st Year 1936 # 580
The first Allach catalog was produced in 1936. The catalog contained 42
models and a accompanying price list that listed 40 items for sale.
The first 42 pieces were for the most part commercial pieces, with several presentations of note. In order to try and date pieces there are certain criteria. Many pieces went into and out of production before the main catalog reprint representing the years 1938/39 came out. Somewhere between the end of 1938 into the year of 1939. Being a bi-annual catalog it can be difficult to figure out when the cut off date was, and when was the catalog actually printed. Were there only the 100 piece listed at the end of 1939?, or were there more?.
Since the first catalog was for 1936, and the second for 1937 and the corresponding model #s are had on a one year basis, it is safe to assume that the production figures for those years are accurate to a degree. An attempt to break these models down by production year and model post 1939 is a different question. And a question that has less to do with a catalog and more to do with the pieces themselves and their attributes.
In an attempt try and recreate the actual figures, I am going to break the models down by year of manufacture as opposed to the type of piece. Plaques, Plakettes and dated presentations or awards are pretty easy as they are dated. Some pieces were introduced and discontinued so quickly that I have no reference pictures for some items.
I am going to leave their corresponding model # and description open for view even though I don't have a photo, and if someone has one and wants to share it, I would be more than happy to apply it to its model # with the catalog year. There are bound to be a couple mistakes when I try and do it in this fashion. Please keep that in mind and any info will be greatly appreciated to adjust any discrepancies that may appear.
Thank you,
Kris
