A very nice painting by the German war artist Ludwig Gruber. Each year the Luftwaffe would gather works of art from their ranks and compile them into a catalog "Kunst Der Front".

The artist in this case contributed many works and seeing this one it is understandable as it is really quite nice. Dated 1941 and signed by Gruber, the piece depicts a German soldier on the front in helmet and heavy coat and some most notable Russian architecture in the background.

It can be difficult finding nice examples of German war art here in the states, and if you like to define your collection with nice accents, this should work very well. The painting itself measures approx. 12x 8 1/2 and in the frame it measures 17x13.

I have been a little slow in getting to paintings but will be working them into the back end of the year. Here is a nice example looking for a home.
