Gold Party Badge 30mm Deschler- Leopold Auer # 1044
This badge is over the top and certainly warrants the file for the
owner. Its a large McDivitt file of 27 pages and the badge belonged to
Leopold Auer, an Austrian party member who originally joined the party
on 17.5.26, as party # 51291.
Somehow he lost his member
status and reappears as a member as of 16.3.28 as member # 82,135. Party
member Auer chased his original number all the way up the chain to get
it back, and it appears he was given back his original number on a
change form as of 4.5.42. Certainly persistent for sure. Party service
was uninterrupted and not sure how he lost his number but was not tossed
out.
This guy may warrant some further research and some
hand written documents mention possible SA affiliation as early as 1925,
but who knows. They did pull his original badge # from the active
holder by the name of Franz Gruter and issued that man badge #61,135. 14
Years and a lot of work to get a number back.
This badge is
the 30mm large example with the military pin. I have never seen an
example this pristine and it is literally like new. While it is not
inexpensive if one wanted a representative example or the best, this
would be the badge.
