Third Reich Desk Piece- Bronzed Swastika w/Presentation # 3529
This is the nicest desk piece I have had in quite some time and they have gotten to be very difficult to find. Maybe 1 in 10 are untouched. This was an early pickup at the Show of show's and was surprised to see it and it is not one that I have ever had before. The dedication is Kameradschaft Perkel and it is dated 18.8.1935. The patina is a dark chocolate bronze and when I saw the date I swore it was gonna be bronze. It is about 7 inches tall and the wreath dimension is about 5 inches in itself. It has what appears to be an original marble base and an early piece and the quality is superior to most.
I did wait till I got home and pulled it from the base to confirm my suspicions it was bronze although it had no foundry mark and was surprised that it was in fact white metal. It is a beautiful piece however and the only issue I had was the double sided screw when placing it back I tightened just a tad too much and pulled it from the underside of the statue. Not the first time and not a terribly big deal and threads are intact so I tapped it with some Gorilla glue screwed it back in and let it set and its fine. What I will probably do is take it off the base for shipment and pack the marble and hardware separate and a 3/8 nut driver with just a snug turn and you are back in business. Very nice piece and high quality.
