Kriegsmarine Honor Dagger- Post War ( Alcoso ) # 1967
An original Kriegmarine honor dagger commands a substantial sum these
days and if you can find one they are certainly cost prohibitive. This
might very well be the reason that post-war examples of good quality can
bring fairly good prices at auction and in the marketplace. I have
showed this piece to a couple guys in the dagger world and not much to
be had in the way of information on them.
This example I believe to be an early postwar example of high quality and a real looker. The blade has the Alcose marking which is of course not proper as these were manufactured exclusively by the firm of Eickhorn. The blade is an artificial Damascus but quite attractive, it does however contain real diamonds to the pommel and the grip is of the same organic material as the originals as well. The detail is quite nice for a person looking for a display piece without having to shell out 6 figures. As a matter of fact the ask on this piece is roughly 2.5% of an original example. The pommel does not want to be removed and it will not be forced off here so let it be known that its just not coming apart and if you purchase this and try and do it causing any harm in the process, its not coming back.
Nice reproductions of high end dagger's at auction can bring 3-5000.00 Euro and do bring strong money. This example can be had for less of course and will make a nice filler piece for a Kriegsmarine collector.
