Paul von Hindenburg Oil Painting ( Alfred Reinhardt ) # 3296
A high quality oil on canvas portrait painting of former Field Marshall, Paul von Hindenburg.. Painted by Alfred Reinhardt, a known German artist active in the first part of the 20th century. Reinhardt was admitted as a student at the Akademie der bildenden Kuenste in Munich in 1884. This portrait was most likely painted soon after Hindenburg was elected president of Weimar Germany in 1925. Probably a commission for a public building or office. He is portrayed as a stern statesman. This painting measures approximately 17 3/4" by 23 1/4" and the canvas is on its original wood stretcher. The frame is a modern replacement, about 30 years old, but suits the painting. The canvas is in fine condition with no tears or repair. The frame has some minor loss to the gesso (see photos), but still displays well.
