Boxed KPM Adolf Hitler Presentation Plaque- Hans Defregger # 3451
Getting very hard to find top shelf plaques for the Third Reich these days and this one here has all the bells and whistles as its KPM porcelain which is of the highest quality, it is artist signed and bears its original model date of 1933. It is a large format piece at just under 7 inches, which is big and additionally it is fitted into its original form fitted box and dedicated to the underside of the upper lid. The inscription in gold reads "XI Olympiade Berlin 1936 International's Sportstudentenlager" and followed by Reichsminister Rust, responsible for science, education, and culture. The box measures a hearty 9 inches square.
On July 23, 1936 the International sports student camp opened in Berlin. Bernhard Rust, Minister of Economics, Education and Popular Education, and Theodor Lewald, President of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, open the international sports student camp. 1000 students from 34 different countries are invited to the games and will be accommodated in the international sports student camp on the grounds of the university institute for physical exercises on the Avus in Berlin. I have added a photo for this.
The firm of KPM established in 1763 with the most notable founder being Frederick the Great is some of the finest porcelain made and is still in business today. A lot of time has been spent here with Allach over the years as the site leaned towards the SS in its historical review of the culture during the Third Reich. The focus now is to buy the best I can buy for my offerings and KPM fits that bill, this piece in particular will certainly not disappoint.
The artist for this was Hans Defregger and it was modeled in 1933. Defregger was the son of Franz Defregger the famous German painter. His art signature and date is to the rear with the unmistakeable KPM Scepter for the firm of KPM. A very rare plaque in its case of issue with dedication by the finest manufacture of porcelain outside of PMA and even then with plaques their right there on par. Piece is mint and undamaged, the box has some fading and age but no detractions worth noting.
