Kaiser Wilhelm II in Full Naval Uniform # 3134
Offered here is a large, full figure, cast bronze sculpture of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany in full Naval uniform, frock coat, fore and aft cap and holds a telescope under his arm. His aiguillette, medals and orders, sword and moire silk sash are all crisply chased. The bronze stands 28" tall and the bronze base measures 8 1/4" x 8 1/4". The high quality, finely detailed cast is signed and dated by the sculptor W. Seifert 1900. It is also foundry marked: Gegossen Act=Ges. Schäffer & Walcker Berlin. This prestigious foundry started in 1845 casting many monumental works. The company is still in business today, but no longer has an art division, but is today an industrial foundry. There is a marble base with the piece, drilled, but not attached. It was likely made at a later date. It adds 1 1/2" to the overall height. This is one of the finest quality bronzes I have ever seen.
